Professor Giovanni Bignami today held a conference at the middle school Tiepolo, Milan. The scientist, well known worldwide for his documentaries, he was also President of ASI (Italian Space Agency) and researcher at the CNR and is currently director of COSPAR (Committee on World Space Research) and member of many academies of medieval origin, such as the Accademia dei Lincei in Rome, the French Academy of Sciences and many more. In 2010 he was the first Italian to win the Medal of Blaise Pascal, the highest honor for a physical.
In his lecture, held in front of the first and eighth grade boys, Bignami presented his new book, "The Martians us' (of which there I highly recommend reading), but also explained the principal concepts that a young astrophysicist must know. It was also submitted in exobiology (which, as our regular readers know, is one of our favorite courses), with a very interesting journey through le pietre miliardi di questa branca della scienza: dal primo esopianeta scoperto, Fomalhaut B, fino ai più recenti Gliese 581g e Kepler 10b (di cui abbiamo già parlato su questo sito innumerevoli volte). Per pura coincidenza, proprio nei giorni in cui nasceva il nuovo progetto esobiologico di Polluce Notizie « SpaceLife : alla ricerca di intelligenze extraterrestri».
Il prof. Bignami ha poi illustrato la teoria che ha dato il titolo al suo nuovo libro: quella seconda la quale la vita sulla Terra sarebbe stata portata da altri esseri viventi.
