Maffei 2 is a galaxy discovered by Paolo Maffei in 1968, and has one quite atypical. It appears visible only at wavelengths corresponding to the infrared. And so the U.S. Spitzer Space Telescope has decided to focus his eye in that direction.
Hubble was unable to fully discern this galaxy, and then a team of astronomers has deciso di indagare. Nel nucleo sembra esserci a process of starburst, or an area of \u200b\u200bstar birth, or - as we usually call her on this blog - a "stellar maternity ward." Even this new stretch of somatic Maffei 2 is quite unusual: normally located in the nucleus are the oldest stars, and along the galactic arms are the starburst regions.
